With SHOWBUS moving to the Midlands for 2013 on Sunday 22nd September and we are taking the opportunity to celebrate a number of important Midland milestones. It is 80 years since the first Guy Arab was built, 90 years since Midland red built its first bus, the BMMOP SOS and 150 years since Metro-Cammell was founded. The company later became MCW and when it ceased to be, bequeathed a number of its design to the fledgling Optare. The popular MCW Metrobus design was later incorporated into Optare's doubledeck Optare. 2013 sees the 35th anniversary of the Metrobus and Scottish preservationist Martin Doherty has already promised to bring along his rare Alexander bodied Kelvin Scottish MCW Metrobus with started life as Alexander Midland MRM15.
