We dip into the archives this week to the pre digital era. It is January 1973 and the first SHOWBUS rally, except the name was not coined till the following year. Early arrivals were one of London Country's first Leyland Nationals, which though shiny and new looked a little drab in all over green, LN15 (NPD115L). Behind is a Plaxton Elite bodied coach from local operator Valliant-Silverline and on the end a Duple Commander bodied touring coach, a Bristol LH6L of South Midland. They are all waiting outside the admin building at Brunel University, later to park in the adjacent car park, which had been cleared of cars for the occasion, which was part of the University's Community Festival. Around fifteen buses and coaches gathered for the event, including a Burton Corporation singledeck Guy Arab which had initially battled snow to travel south for the day. Here we are now planning the 47th show!
