Thanks to Malcolm Crowe for this week's picture. Many will be familiar with Malcolm's Oxford & Chilterns Bus Pages diarying weekly changes in the local bus area and beyond. Be sure to check there for pictures of the SHOWBUSflyby after the event. This image is another on the SHOWBUSflyby route outside the King's Hotel in Stokenchurch and is one of the timing points from Wheatley. In pre-motorway days the King's Hotel was a regular coach refreshment stop over on routes from the north to the capital. For the SHOWBUSflyby it will give some of the older entrants a brief respite after climbing Aston Hill to reach Stokenchurch. Go-Ahead's local operations are divided between Carousel Buses, Thames Travel and the Oxford Bus Company with their individual operations becoming closer integrated, with vehicles moving freely between the three, reulting in the occasional blue Thames Travel working the either of the other two fleets who use red. Red buses swapped between Carousel Buses and Oxford Bus Company often appear in each others fleet bereft of fleetnames or with the wrong names still applied, sometimes for months. This Optare Solo, 709 (MX08MYV) has a livery designed to be used in all three fleets, bearing promotion for mobile ticketing as new ticket equipment was deployed by all the operators. New to Britannia Parking at Bournemouth Airport the bus was acquired by Thames Travel and used in their blue and green livery but is working Carousel link40 between Thame and High Wycombe. The route will run hourly on Sunday enabling visitors to the SHOWBUSflyby to swap locations to viw the buses passing every couple of minutes.
