The first fifteen of the Alexander Dennis Enviro200EV bodied BYD D9UR electric buses have entered service with Bus Eireann in Athlone. Turned out in full TFI (Transport for Ireland) green and yellow livery, they maintain the small network of local services in the town. At least another 45 are waiting to enter service in Dublin pending the completion of the charging structure needed to keep their wheels turning. Unlike other similar buses outside of Ireland these have the "Irish windscreen" with a more raked profile, supposedly to reduce reflections. This is EA1 (222-WH-808) on local service A2 to Bealnamulla about to ascend to the railway station on Friday around nine days ago.
