Its taken a while, but at last we have a Custom Adventurer! Back in December 2020 a visit to Busabout in Wagga Wagga where some of the first examples were supposedly in service, but were nowhere to be seen. The Adventurer is one of a three main models now produced by the combined Custom and Denning business. The Adventurer is based on Denning's Phoenix coach and is marketed as a dual purpose vehicle and school bus. It displaved Custom's SB50. The Endeavour was a restyled Custom CB80 bus, their main and popular bus body. Then there is the Element integral electric singledecker. Busways has been a long standing customer of Customs and has many Endeavours in its fleet and over sixty Adventurers, like this pair seen in their Coffs Harbour depot last week. Coming up to two years old 1446 and 1447 (9640MO/9639MO) boast the new orange and white livery applied in TfNSW style which has displaced plain white for the Busways fleet north of Sydney. The vehicles seat 55 but the seat pairs are designed to take three school children to a double seat, increasing their capacity by nearly 50%, the bodies are built on Volvo B8R chassis.
