Border Buses AOS Grand Toro 12413
It is not oftem you come across a make of bus you have never seen before, especially in the UK, but calling in at Border Buses Berwick-upon-Tweed depot this week, that is exactly what heppened. Two AOS Grand Toro branded midicoaches had just joined the fleet there. One was in the corner receiving fleet decals, whilst this one, 12413 (GU24OKF) had already been treated. A second bus was having its fleetname changed from West Coast Buses to Border Buses at the same time. Border Buses has always like midi sized vehicles with some Plaxton Cheetah/Beaver Mercedes still in Berwick along with Optare Solo and Solo SR variants, so this 35 seater is ideal. The Turksih built model has been imported from Turkey by the well known Sussex based EVM, who have supplied thier own minibus conersions widely, including to New Zealand's, Redbus in Christchurch. The Turkish builder has produced the Grand Toro in partnership with Japan's Isuzu. The Borders Buses pair are not the only imports, several are currently entering service with other operators in Scotland and the north of England including Reays of Wigton and Ultimate Highland in Edinburgh.
