An increasingly familiar sight in London, but a surprising one to find on the North Island of New Zealand - and not in Wellington or Auckland but the North East coastal port of Tauranga. NZBus, the successor to Stagecoach's operations in the country, operates a fleet of five on its franchised town operation on behalf of the Bay of Plenty Regional Council and the NZ Transport Agency. All five have Alexander Dennis Enviro200MMCEV bodies completed by Zhuhai Guangtong in China, the chassis are of course the BYD K9. This is NZB306 (MKZ517), the first of the five, two others, with bodies assemebled in the UK, are on trial with NZBus in Auckland, but see relatively little use. The Bayhopper branded operation in this sunshine yellow livery is a fleet primarily made up of Alexander Dennis/Kiwi build Enviro200 buses cascaded originally based in Auckland and released as part of the NZBus operation there has been franchised to other operators. The bus, complete with loaded North American style front cycle rack, is seen at the busy Wharf Street stand, with the waterfront but a block away.
