Carousel Wright Streetdeck 80672 Riversider
Carousel has had a heavy influx of buses from fellow Go-Ahead fleets, particularly those linked to City of Oxford, since it took over the Arriva the Shires operations in High Wycombe. Many buses are still in Thames Travel grey connector or blue and green colours or Citaros in Pulhams gunmetal silver. On top of that there are newly delivered Enviro200MMC buses in dealer white. Just to add to the variety the Flightline service to Heathrow has its own dedicated two tone green colours and more rural services are being branded "Carousel Country" in a darker shade of red with a red kite symbol. More recently Streetdecks have arrived from Oxford in their route branded black livery with fronts in jade for the X1 or purple for the Park & Ride. Some red fronted Alexander Dennis Enviro200MMC and Enviro400MMC have been added to the mix. A hint of more colour appeared a couple of weeks ago when the on board display screens for the 850 High Wycombe to Reading service showed a blue "Riverider" logo then last Sunday Streetdeck 80672 (SK66HUU) was spotted in Frogmoor in this blue Riverider scheme with a route map on the sides showing the course of the Thames alongside the 850 route with little scene from the delights of Marlow and Henley along the way. Ironically it was sighted on Wycombe town service 32! That is the trouble with route branded buses, the dark red "Country" buses are frequently seen on Wycombe town services, whilst the prestigious Flightline services often sees grey Connector branded or blue and green Scanias. Both Flightline and Riverider are branded "Country" with red kite logos. Interestingly Arriva the Shires was planning to doubledeck the 850 (and 800) before they quit the area, their bus of choice was the Citaro, whether they would have route branded the buses is another matter, especially as they were notorious for operating branded buses on the wrong routes. A very different story from Reading Buses at the other end of the 850. Maybe we will see a return to the days of Thames Valley when open toppers used to follow a similar route by the Thames!
