Gold Run
| |
Entry in the Gold Run is by invitation only. The number of vehicles is limited to 50.
The vehicles will report directly to Cambridge's Trumpington Park & Ride site on the west
side of the city and close to Junction 11 on the M11. Liz Chubb will be receiving vehicles at this
venue on behalf of SHOWBUS and expects to be there from around 10.00am. The parade is
expected to leave around 11.15am under police motorcycle escort and is destined to arrive
at the Imperial War Museum site at around 11.45am. These details will be confirmed nearer
the time.
On arrival at the site the procession will pause until entry formalities have been completed, the
main runway will then be closed to allow the buses to travel airside to the Jubilee display area
on hardstanding adjacent to the M11 where the First display will already be placed.
A map of the route will be displayed later, but the procession will go via Shelford, Stapleford and Sawston.
Vehicles in the run will receive rally numbers in the range 1 to 50. The leading vehicle is expected
to be owned by First. Not surprisingly priority will be to vehicles painted gold for the Jubilee, followed
by other gold painted buses and coaches. If insufficient gold vehicles are available, buses and coaches
built in 1952 will be invited to join in and finally vehicles suitably decorated for the occasion. If your
bus comes into the latter category, please let the organisers know, so that invitations can be sent should
places be available.
