Dead running by Sydney Buses is a common occurence. Whilst some buses use "Not in Service" or "State Transit" a number run on "Charter" followed by a random number. They are dead running, not on charter. Whilst fuel is relatively cheap, the man-hours involved are not plus there is the wear and tear on the machinery. Mercedes 1378 (MO1378) is running north off the Harbour Bridge at speed in November 2016.
