Seventeen year old diesel powered 650 heading for Bayside meets CNG powered 9950, seven years its junior, out in Queens in July 2008.

Downtown that month an unidentified gas powered Orion V is followed by a Trans-Bridge Prevost.

The Orion VII was given a makeover as the Orion VII "New Generation" in 2007, with the radical change in front end appearance, Orion VIII might have been more appropriate. The first New Generation buses joined MTA in 2008, a batch of 160, and this, 3878, was one of them, fitted with BAe HybriDrive like its immediate predecessors. This one was seen headed to Harlem in August 2010.

From the same batch, 3803 was seen the following day in August 2010 outside the American Airlines Theatre on West 42nd Street. Other than the obvious front end revisions, note the upswept waistline at the rear.

The sun does not always shine in the Big Apple and it even rains as seen in this shot of 4174, one of the next batch of 521 delivered in 2009. Note the upswept rear is on the nearside too, as these buses share the asymmetric rear of the earlier hybrid Orion VII.
