The two Easter 1983 arrivals are seen being prepared for service in Middle Garage. Already numbered 155 (OJD228R) is alongside 156 (OJD233R), former DMS2233 still showing London red. The MCW bodied Leyland Fleetline moved around a few London depots, but spent a lot of time out of service and was withdrawn after just over five years. It passed to Luton & District, becoming 708, but suffered accident damage after a year and was withdrawn for spares. Interestingly its remains passed to Green Rover of Watford in 1989.

Red Rover operated the bulk of Milton Keynes city services on Sundays. The DMS bues were the usual performers, leaving Aylesbury depot around 7.00am and returning around midnight. Drivers were ferried over mid afternoon to change the crews. Unfortunately the fuel tanks were not quite able to cope with 17 hours continuous operation and depending on whether the tank had been topped to the brim the night before or not the odd bus would run out of diesel half way home! The bus is seen in Milton Keynes Bus Station, not on Sunday services, but the 515 Market Day express service from Great Missenden, Tring and Leighton Buzzard. |
