A new name on the Melbourne and Victoria tour market is Explore Australia Tours. The company has purchased the new Toyota Coaster for its needs and two of the new fleet were in the new North Melbourne depot when visited on Wednesday. In this striking purple livery and dubbed the "Purple People Eater" is BS05IT. The second Coaster was in white with rego BS05HV. Alongside the "Purple People Eater" was 5948AO, a Fuso Rosa of Australian Wine Tours who share the depot with ExA. The new Coaster has not found the popularity of its predecessor so the opportunity was taken to find out why. Apparently the Fuso wins on capacity with up to 25 seats, where the Coaster seats only 22. The Coaster though has a superior reputation for reliability, parts availability and durability. The new model has a flat floor and coach style seating giving a small coach feel inside, whereas the Rosa is more utilitarian with seats at various levels inside.
