It was good to see school coaches back on the streets of Melbourne this week as schools reopened. Coaches - and drivers - which have been standing waiting for the opportunity to turn a wheel finally came back to life. It has been a tough time for the coach industry worldwide. Seen on Wednesday was this pair of Higer A30 Scania K310IB models from Driver Bus Lines onan afternoon from from St Michael's Grammar School on Chapel Street. In the lead is 88 (BS04QT), new at the beginning of last year, whilst - in the old livery - bringing up the rear, is five year old sister vehicle 19 (BS01DV). The fleet now contains no less than 33 similar coaches, including six on the K280UB chassis, which are the standard work horse for school contracts, but quite presentable for charter work too. A further 19 K310IB sport Irizar i6 bodies and are generally more suited to charter and tour work, several being finished in Gray Line colours.
